MHI pursues a modern approach to training specialists in the highly demanded spheres - law, economics, foreign languages, journalism and psychology. It has four well-equipped computer rooms and a local area net, which enables the students to productively use the modern information technologies such as the Internet, information data bases, professional applications, e-books etc. Its own library provides MHI with all necessary books, periodicals and other literature. The unique Quality Control System helps MHI efficiently monitor the teaching process and flexibly introduce measures to improve both students' and teachers' performance.

ACTIVE INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

MHI supports 16 long-term projects with over 20 partners from Western Europe, Canada and the USA. About 300 students participate in international activities every year (student exchange programs, conferences, workshops, summer camps etc.). In 2003 Murmansk Humanities Institute became a member of the University of the Arctic. It started cooperation with approximately 100 new partners in different projects and educational programs. In its international activities MHI focuses especially on intense collaboration with institutions in the neighboring countries - Finland, Norway and Sweden.

The research work in MHI includes studies in the sphere of economics (specifically economics of the Kola Peninsula, development of private business in specific conditions), psychology (today's youth problems), law, linguistics and journalism. At the international level, joint research with partners from Western Europe includes various problems in psychology, linguistics and economics.

CONSTANT DEVELOPMENT

MHI is never satisfied with what is already achieved. It starts new research projects, renovates the computer rooms and gym equipment, implements new social programs for students. The permanent development helps MHI remain one of the most competitive educational establishments in the Russian North-West. Presently, MHI is widening the range of complementary training such as extension courses and pre-qualification, which enables people with different education levels to meet the high employment requirements of today.
